Why do I need a consultation?
We do not have access to your GP records and must carry out a consultation to ensure you are in good health, and to determine the correct vaccination(s) for your health and/or travel needs. During your consultation, our Nurse will need to complete a risk assessment with you. It will also give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the vaccine recommendations. It is recommended to bring as much of your past medical/vaccination history with you to the appointment.
How do I book a family/group in?
Each person will need their own consultation, but we can arrange for everyone’s appointments to be timed together. Please call us so we can arrange a suitable time for the family/group to attend together. Please note a £10 deposit per person is taken when booking 3 or more appointments. This is non-refundable if the appointments are cancelled within 24 hours of appointment time (or in case of non-attendance). The full deposit is taken off the final cost of the treatment if a treatment is received at the appointment.
Do you offer vaccinations or services on the NHS?
No, Olive Health & Travel is a private clinic. All of our services, vaccinations and medicines are chargeable.
Do you offer blood tests on the NHS?
We do not issue NHS blood tests, however we will not charge you for any tests if you have a GP request form. We are able to assist in your blood draw and transporting your sample to the hospital for a small fee.
Please bring your GP Request Form to the appointment, but pre-book this with us so we ensure specimen transport arrangements are made ahead of time.
What should I expect on arrival?
When you arrive in clinic you will be asked for your name and time of appointment. You will also be asked to fill out a pre-consultation form in which we will ask you about your past medical history. Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your appointment time.
Will I be able to get my vaccinations or tests done at my first appointment?
Yes, we operate a face to face clinic wherein we provide the vaccinations and tests in the first appointment.
What travel vaccinations do I need?
You will be advised at your appointment what vaccinations are required. The nurse will go through your travel itinerary and your previous medical history. For a brief idea of what may be recommended for your trip you can visit https://travelhealthpro.org.uk.
I fly out tomorrow, what should I do?
Ideally, vaccinations and boosters should be taken 10 days before travel to ensure immunity has kicked in before you set off, but we can still vaccinate you last minute and give you advice, and if required, provide you with tablets to prevent malaria. Please bear in mind that the Yellow Fever vaccination is provided with certificate, and the certificate validity will start from day 10 of the vaccination.
Vaccinations that require a course (such as Rabies, Hepatitis B, Japanese Encephalitis, Cholera) should ideally be started 4-6 weeks before travel to enable the course to be completed before you fly out.
Do I have to bring my vaccination history to my travel health appointment?
You do not have to bring your vaccination history with you. However, if you can obtain a vaccination print out from your GP this will help our clinician better advise you on the vaccines needed for your trip as you might not need to repeat some vaccinations. You can obtain your vaccination history from your GP reception or on your NHS App.
Do you provide vaccine certificates?
Yes, we provide certificates for Yellow Fever and Meningitis ACWY.
You will also receive an immunisation record card for any other vaccines we give you.
If you lost your immunisation record, please give us a call and we can email you details of the treatment you have received.
Will you update my NHS record if I receive vaccinations at your clinic?
We do not have access to NHS records. However, if you provide your GP details on the form at your appointment, we will email details of the treatment received to your surgery so that they may update the record for you.
